Curwensville Days Miss Pageant

   GENERAL PAGEANT INFORMATION

You are invited to apply for admission as a contestant in the 2010 Miss Curwensville Days pageant to be held at Irwin Park.  The entry fee for each contestant is $15.00, which is non-refundable.

The Curwensville Days Committee will award five (5) titles to girls who reside within the Curwensville Area School District in the 2009-10 school year:

 

Miss Curwensville Days (2009 CAHS Graduate to age 21)

Teen Miss Curwensville Days (grades 10-12)

Junior Miss Curwensville Days (grades 7-9)

Little Miss Curwensville Days (grades 4-6)

Tiny Miss Curwensville Days (grades K-3)

 

Contestants will be judged on poise and personality in areas of competition that will include an essay, on-stage question and appearance in a gown or dress.  Judges will be from out of the area.

 

All contestants must submit two (2) head-shot photos with their application for publicity on the Web site, newspaper and photo album used by the judges.  A school photo or one taken at home is acceptable.

 

Additionally, Miss, Teen and Junior contestants will be required to submit a one-page essay “Why I Want to be Miss Curwensville Days” with their application. Little and Tiny contestants will be asked to draw and submit an 8 ½ x 11 picture with a small caption describing their favorite part of Curwensville Days with their application.  Essays and drawings will be assigned a contestant number, and will be judged prior to the competition by members of the Curwensville Days Committee.

 

Miss and Teen contestants will wear a gown/prom dress during the competition; Junior contestants may choose to wear a gown or age-appropriate dress; Little and Tiny contestants should wear a dress only, such as one that is used for church or special holiday occasion.  ALL GOWNS AND DRESSES IN EACH CATEGORY MUST BE AGE-APPROPRIATE!

 

Winners will receive a crown, sash, flowers and other gifts as donated by local businesses.  Runners-up will be determined by the number of girls in each division, and will receive sashes and other awards to be determined.  Winners and their court  will be asked to attend as many nights of Curwensville Days as possible to assist with introducing entertainment, participating in contest drawings, be in the Curwensville Days Parade and hand out parade trophies.  They may also be asked to attend various functions throughout the year to represent the community as requested by the Curwensville Days Committee, including other parades and events.

 

A short orientation for all contestants and at least one parent/guardian will be held a week prior to Curwensville Days to explain the pageant’s course of events and answer any questions.  All contestants will be notified shortly after the deadline of the date and time of orientation.
